SVG vs PNG

PNG is the usual choice when an SVG logo or icon has to go somewhere that won’t take SVG, such as a social media profile picture, an email signature or a slide. It keeps the transparent background and the sharp edges. Because an SVG has no fixed size, pick how big the PNG should be: 1024 px suits most uses, and 2048 or 4096 px suits print.

About the two formats

SVG

SVG describes shapes, lines and text as drawing instructions instead of pixels, so it stays perfectly sharp at any size and is often tiny. The catch is that many places, such as social media profiles, email signatures and some upload forms, only accept regular images like PNG or JPG.

PNG

PNG stores every pixel exactly, with no quality loss, and supports transparent backgrounds. That makes it ideal for graphics and screenshots, but photos saved as PNG are very large.

Questions

Do my files get uploaded?

No. SVG to PNG runs entirely in your browser, so your files never leave your device. Close the tab and they're gone.

Is it really free?

Yes. No account, no daily limits and no watermark on your files.

What size will my PNG be?

You choose: 512, 1024, 2048 or 4096 pixels on the longest side. The SVG is redrawn at that size, so it stays sharp rather than being stretched.

Will the background stay transparent?

Yes. Anything transparent in the SVG stays transparent in the PNG.
